Abstract

The objective of this study was to calculate the incidence of prostate cancer based on histopathological reports from the pathology laboratory that evaluates the 7th Health Region of Paraná. This research analyzed epidemiological data on prostate cancer in the 7th Health Region of Paraná from 2014 to 2019, comparing it with data from the National Cancer Institute (INCA). The study identified a high incidence of prostate cancer in older age groups within the public healthcare system (SUS), while in the private healthcare system, the highest diagnostic rates were observed between the ages of 40 and 55. These results underscore the importance of understanding local epidemiology, given Brazil's ethnic and cultural diversity. The study emphasizes the need to obtain specific regional information on the incidence of this condition to guide more effective health policies aimed at preventing and treating prostate cancer.Parte superior do formulário
