The challenges of nursing in the diagnosis and treatment of gestational syphilis: an integrative review

Objective: to analyze the challenges of nursing in the diagnosis and treatment of gestational syphilis through. Methodology: Integrative literature review carried out by searching for articles in the VHL, LILACS, MEDLINE and SCIELO databases from the descriptors syphilis, gestational, congenital syphilis, prevention and nursing care. Results: They were found in agreement with the descriptors 372 articles, selected 09 articles for analysis through literature review, the selected articles cover the role of the nurse and its challenges in the early diagnosis of gestational syphilis and efficacy in treatment. The crucial challenges are the partner's non-adherence to treatment, social factors and non-understanding of the disease. Conclusion: The main challenges of nursing in the diagnosis and treatment of gestational syphilis are the non-performance of prenatal care of the pregnant woman and the partner in the basic health unit and not understanding of the disease.
