Abstract

Objective: To summarize scientific evidence on the effects of screen use on children’s physical, cognitive, and psychosocial development. Method: Integrative review conducted in MEDLINE, LILACS, BDENF, IndexPsi, SciELO, and Scopus, including empirical studies from 2019–2024. A total of 40 studies met the eligibility criteria. Results: Evidence indicated sedentary behavior, visual and postural problems, sleep impairment, language delays, attention and learning difficulties, irritability, anxiety, and reduced social interaction. Parental mediation emerged as a key protective factor. Conclusion: Excessive screen time is a significant risk factor for child development, highlighting the need for educational actions and guidance in Primary Health Care and family environments.
